Review, Reflect, Relax (Sunday, July 4, 2010)

I’ve always loved the Fourth of  July.  It started when I was just a little boy. It was the closest holiday to my birthday.  It was during the summer when I was out of school.  I either got to celebrate it by shooting off fireworks with my friends at home or by watching the fireworks display in downtown Knoxville with my grandparents.  I love the flags and the music and the parades.  I’ve always loved the Fourth of July – and today was no different.

I think the Patriotic Celebration at Temple this morning was great.  The choir, orchestra, special music by Kayleigh Payne and our men’s trio – even the bagpipes were all just amazing.  I want to thank Pastor Steve and everybody who worked so hard practicing and putting it together for making this morning so very special.  It really was a wonderful morning.

I know that we combined our Bible Fellowship hours and Worship services today because we knew that there would be many, many  of our folks who would be out traveling for the the holiday, but seeing a packed house in the middle of the summer was exciting.  For those of you who were so faithful to be there today, thank you.  I pray that you enjoyed the service as much as I did.

The Whitt family spent the evening hanging out with some folks from the church – grilling, swimming and watching the kids have a blast.  As I sit here typing, I can hear the fireworks going off over our house.  I have always loved the Fourth of July.

I hope you have a great week.  Remember that the scripture tells us something so very important and powerful about real freedom. “Whom the Son sets free is free indeed.”

HIS.

Pastor Brad
