Review, Reflect, Relax (Sunday, April 4, 2010)

What a great day at Temple!  It has been a long time since we have seen that many guests on one Sunday.  Now, I know that it is Easter and many times those who won’t go to church on any other Sunday go on Easter, but today was extraordinary.  I want to thank all of you who invited your family and friends to come to Temple with you today.  I pray that they were made to feel welcome and enjoyed the service, but most of all I pray that they had an encounter with the risen Savior, Jesus Christ.  He was present and He was evident in our services today.

I was so proud to see Grayson Everidge make his public profession of faith in Jesus through baptism today.  I remember in my early days as pastor at Temple how a young Grayson Everidge would come in looking for the pastor to shake his hand.  It was my pleasure today to shake his hand as a new brother in Christ.  Way to go Grayson.

Also, to see Cristian come forward to share openly that he had asked Jesus to be his Lord and Savior and make an appointment for his baptism (which, btw, is going to be next Sunday) was just the icing on the cake of a glorious day.  I really believe that the Lord has something very special in mind for this young man.  I am trusting that as he walks close to Jesus that Jesus is going to use him to make a powerful and eternal impact in the lives of many people.

My neighbors Jay and Kristi attended Temple for the first time today.  I had the opportunity to talk with them both this afternoon and feel that you all did a great job of making them feel welcome.  I’m working on a Temple trio here on Lyons Drive.

It was a great morning, breaking our Easter attendance record from last year, that ended up being a great day all around that was spent with the family.  I enjoyed getting the chance to celebrate Easter with my wife and children, as well as my parents who were in for the weekend.

As I reflect on today I am amazed at how much God must love us.  He sent His Son to die for us.  He raised Jesus from the dead.  He gives us the person and presence of the Holy Spirit, and on top of all of that He still pours our personal blessings on His us, His children.  We are truly blessed with a loving Heavenly Father.

I hope that you have had as great of a day as I have.  I pray that you take every opportunity to tell your family members and friends who don’t know Him about Jesus this week.

As we begin to look forward as a church, we are preparing for our Spring Revival with Dr. Phil Hoskins.  You are going to be hearing a lot about this exciting time in the life of TBC which will begin Sunday evening, April 25.  Mark your calendars, clear your schedule and begin to pray that God will do a tremendous work in our church and community during this special series of meetings.

I pray you have a great week.

HIS,

Pastor Brad
