Sunday Preview – When The Savior Showed Up And Showed Off

Sunday Preview – When The Savior Showed Up And Showed Off

Tomorrow I get to preach from one of the greatest seedbeds in the Bible.  It is the story found in Mark chapter 2 of the paralytic who was lowered by four of his friends to the feet of Jesus and as a result was miraculously healed.  It’s a story that has something for everybody.  For the lost it lets them know their condition apart from Christ.  For the church crowd it lets them know the dangers of being a hindrance to those who want to come to Jesus.  For those who have a heart for the lost it shows them what must take place if they are going to be successful in getting their lost friends and family members to Jesus.  Most of all it teaches us that Jesus is Jehovah Rophe, the Lord who heals and He and He alone has the power to forgive sin.  It’s going to be a great time in God’s Word and I want to encourage you to make Worship and Bible Fellowship a priority in your family’s life tomorrow.

Also, tomorrow evening is our first “Sizzlin’ Summer Sunday Night” of 2010. If you are new to Temple, this is a great opportunity for you to get a chance to met and develop relationships with people that you might not ever see or have a chance to spend time with on Sunday morning.  I want to encourage every Bible Fellowship class to make it a priority to be there and invite some who haven’t been as faithful as they could have been lately.  It’s going to be a great time of food, fellowship and worship.  Bring a lawn chair, blanket, canopy and enough side dishes for you and your family.  We will provide the hamburgers and hot dogs.  It all kicks off at 5:30.  We look forward to seeing you and your family there.

Also, at the services on Sunday, me and the family will be headed south to Orlando for the Southern Baptist Convention.  Please pray for safe travel for us, but most of all pray for the Lord’s will as there are some very important and even divisive issues facing the messengers this years.  I’m told that they are expecting upwards of 20,000 people to attend the convention this year.  That’s basically double the attendance of recent years.  (It’s amazing how many baptists will show up for a fight.)  Thankfully we’re not debating doctrine or theology, but rather how best to structure the SBC to better reach the lost.  As always, if you get 3 Baptists together in one room you have 5 opinions.  Should be an interesting week.

For this reason, I will not prepare my weekly devotional, but will be tweeting often to keep you updated as to what is going on with the Whitt Family in particular and the SBC in general.  Stay tuned, it’s going to be a wild ride.

Have a great evening and I look forward to seeing you and your family at Temple tomorrow!

Pastor Brad
