Review/ Reflect/ Relax – (Sunday, February 28,2010)

Whew!  What a long day.  Just walked in the door from our monthly deacons’ meeting.  (Have I told you lately how much I love those guys?  Really are some of the most genuine, godly men with servant hearts I know of anywhere.)

As I look back on this day there really is a lot to be thankful for.  I guess the highlight for me was seeing Nic Dawkins make his public profession of faith in Jesus through believer’s baptism.  Having served as pastor here at TBC for getting close to nine years, seeing how the Lord has, and is moving in Nic and Brittany’s life reminds me again why I love getting to do what I do.  It is the Nic and Brittany’s that make up for the heartaches and headaches of being a local church pastor.  Watching, and listening to, Brittany sing this morning in the praise team and again this evening I can see how the Lord’s grace can totally transform our lives.

Again, I just want to say that as a pastor I am extremely proud of and excited about how the Lord is moving in the lives of young couples like the Dawkins.

I am also thankful for the kind words of encouragement over today’s messages.  I guess that if there is a common theme between the two it would be that when it comes to church, and even life in general, you really do get what you put into it.  If you want to connect, plug in. If you want to be ministered to, then be a minister. It’s kind of like what my “Nanny” used to tell me, “If you want to have friends, be one.”  Words to live by, I think.

I was really excited to see my friend Brandon McNeely, owner of Mojo’s Burgers in the second service this morning.  (If you have never had a Mojo’s burger, you’ve never had a burger.)

I did miss seeing several people today.  (I’m actually making a list so I won’t forget who I missed.) I know that several of our families were traveling, a few were sick and I sure that more than a few decided that it was “just too pretty to go to church.” (One of the young men in the church had a unique take on it.  He said, “A couple of weeks ago it was too cold and nasty to get out and come to church and now it’s too pretty.”) Oh well, if you weren’t there you miss an opportunity to be encouraged and be an encourager.  (Listen to the sermon from this morning.) If you were there, think of somebody who wasn’t and forward the link for the sermon once it’s uploaded to the church’s website.

Well, I’ve reviewed, reflected, now it’s time to relax.  I pray that you have a blessed week.  Don’t forget your memory verse (Heb. 10:25) and to be looking for opportunities to tell somebody about Jesus!

HIS.
Pastor Brad
