“By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.” Hebrews 11:4

Yesterday morning we began a journey of walking through one of the most exciting chapters in the entire Bible, Hebrews Chapter 11. The author of Hebrews introduces us to the God’s Hall of Faith.” Twenty-Four times in the Twenty-Three verses of this chapter we find the word “faith.” What is faith?” Faith is hearing, believing and acting on the Word of God. Through Abel’s worship, he displayed and demonstrated the kind of faith it takes to have a meaningful fellowship with God.

Here are the foundational principles for living a life of Worshipping Faith:

1.  God Accepts Our Worship When Our Worship Is Acceptable. (Heb. 11:4 “By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice…” Hebrews 11:4)

If you want to understand what life is really about, then you must understand true worship.  Worship answers the question, “Why am I here?” You and I were created for worship. Listen to the Lord Jesus Christ as He shares, “Love the Lord with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength” (Mark 12:30).  We are to love and worship Christ with everything we have.

2.  Right Worship Becomes A Witness Of Righteousness. (Heb.11: 4 By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts…”)

It is vitally important we understand what authentic, Biblical worship is and isn’t.  Real worship is not just singing, praying or coming to church. Worship is a lifestyle of living for God. It is a 24/7 daily commitment of obedience to Him.

3.  Just Because The Lord Respects Your Worship Doesn’t Mean The World Will. Jesus tells us in John 15:18-20, “If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they hated me, they’ll hate you.” And then He tells us why. “A servant is not great than his master.”

4.  Even Though You are Mortal, Your Witness Isn’t. (Hebrews 11:4 ends with these powerful words: “…and through it he being dead still speaks.”

Conclusion

Do you want to live a life beyond yourself? Then live a life of worship! Because through your worship, there will be a witness that will live on throughout the years. This is what the life of Abel illustrates. Faith and Worship always go together, because you have to have faith in the God you worship and you will only worship the God you have faith in.
