Pastors are people too. I know that it may surprise you to hear me, a pastor, make that statement, but it’s true. We’re people and as such we’re imperfect, fallen, and all too often prone to behaving in a way that doesn’t well represent the God who called and commissioned us. Not only are we imperfect, but we are also accountable – more so, even – than those we lead and serve. The pressures that a pastor carries are real and unrelenting. Sometimes those pressures are too great, and a pastor falls into a disqualifying sin and other times the pastor just flames out and quits. Sometimes the pressure – and prestige – goes to a pastor’s head and he begins to believe his press and thus comes up with all sorts of crazy ideas. Some of these ideas he uses to justify sin in his life, others are unfortunately used to lead those who follow him astray either in their beliefs or behavior. These are some of the issues and situations we read about in the first posts today. Today’s other posts give some interesting insights into productivity, church attendance and the impact of Christianity on the world today. I hope that you enjoy these and are better equipped to walk faithfully with Jesus in this fallen world as a result of this simple list of posts. Remember, just because I share a post here doesn’t mean that I endorse the author or his writing. Enjoy and be blessed!
