Fridays Are For Families – “The Job Of Parents”

Well, it’s Friday again at the Whitt house, and the natives are restless.  Don’t know exactly what’s on the schedule for the day, but whatever it might be is going to be GREAT!

I hope that you plan and schedule time into your busy week just to spend time together as a family.  I realize that you probably spend a great deal of time taking your boys and girls to this game or that event, but is that really spending time together? Are you spending time talking and sharing and listening to your children?  The greatest thing that you can give your children is not stuff, but time.  Don’t waste time – that’s the stuff life’s made of.

I want to pass along a very simple, yet needed job description for parents that Dr. James Dobson shared in his book, “Parenting Isn’t For Cowards.”  (There’s a world of truth just in that title.) May this be a help and a reminder to you of the great responsibility you have as a parent.

“The Job of Parents”

Parents can, and must:

TRAIN,

SHAPE,

MOLD,

CORRECT,

GUIDE,

PUNISH,

REWARD,

INSTRUCT,

WARN,

TEACH,

AND LOVE

their kids during their formative years.

Have a great Labor Day weekend.  Take your family to church and spend time sharing together too!

HIS,

Pastor Brad
