Just got home from the last Sizzlin’ Summer Sunday Night of 2010. These monthly outdoor fellowships and concerts have been such a blessing to me as a pastor. To get to see my folks together, worshiping and fellowshiping really encourages my heart. I hope that if you’re one of our younger families at Temple that you take some time to realize how special these times are, because it’s not this way at most churches. We are truly blessed.
This morning will prove to be a pivotal and deciding day in the life of our church. As I mentioned this morning, we are right now in that little white space between Numbers 13 and 14. We have space to make a decision, but the decision that we make will determine our destiny as a church and as families. I pray that we will not make the mistakes and have to pay the price that the Children of Israel did. May we come together as never before and move forward trusting God to do in us and through us what He has called us to do.
If you weren’t there for the service, the sermon will be uploaded soon and I encourage you to listen to it – maybe more than once, because this message is the stake in the ground. This is the point that we move from. We’re not going back. There’s no reverse on our steering column, and we have such a short time to make a difference for Jesus.
This morning should have underscored the reason why we went to, and will continue to have, two services and two bible fellowship hours. There were at least 40-50 of our regular attenders out today, and yet the auditorium was comfortably full. (As one member even put it, “It was uncomfortable.”) While it was fun being together for such an important day, there is no way that we can grow any past where we were today without our dual schedule. Pray for the two hours and consider becoming a part of the First Worship/Second Bible Fellowship time. You would be a real encouragement to so many.
Tonight, as Imentioned, was tremendous. I’ve known Squire Parsons most of my life and have spent quite a bit of time with him over the years. He is still such a gracious, godly man and the outdoor concert tonight was a blast. If you weren’t there, you really did miss something.
Well, we head out tomorrow morning for our annual staff planning retreat. Pray for us as we set the calendar and look forward to some big things that the Lord has placed on my heart. It’s going to be a great year serving Jesus and loving people and I want you to be a part of it.
BTW – that is one good looking boy! But I’m partial. 😉
