I just walked in the house from a terrific day of worship and fellowship. The spirit and warmth of this day was tremendous. I want to thank all of you who were so faithful to be there for our time of prayer for revival during the morning services and who came back tonight. I really believe that the Lord is going to do something very special in us and with us and through us both as a church and as individuals. I am truly expecting “Greater Things.”
I know that this morning’s message was as strong of a word from the Word as I have ever preached at Temple. I realize that many could, and may have, taken offense at the straightforwardness that I felt led to deliver it with. However, I want to thank all of you, both members and guests, who shared how the message spoke to you, convicted you, challenged you, or pointed out some area of your life or walk that might be a roadblock to revival.
As I said in all three services today, I believe that God has been so good for so long to us as a church that I think that we just sort of expect it to always be this way – regardless of our walk with or work for Him. May we never take the goodness of our God for granted. May we seek to be more and do more for Him. We have an important place and a vital ministry here on this corner for Jesus. Let’s never take that for granted or lose sight of that fact.
I was thoroughly blessed by the message that Dr. Jerry Spencer preached tonight. I have known Dr. Spencer for many, many years, but I believe that this is the first time that I have ever heard him preach in person. His warmth of personality, his delivery of the truth of the gospel and his evident burden for the Lost was both encouraging and convicting. There have already been many requests for him to come back for an extended meeting. We’re already talking dates and times.
I’m praying and looking forward to Dr. Phil Hoskins being with us the rest of the week. He was unable to be there tonight do to some sort of personal matter that required him to be in Kingsport tomorrow morning, but I am assured by his associate pastor that he will be with us the rest of the week. Please pray for Him and our church the rest of the week. Pray for strength and anointing for our preacher and faithfulness and a burden for our people.
I really am expecting “Greater Things” this week and I hope and pray that you are as well.
Have a great night, pray for the revival services and don’t forget to bring someone with you tomorrow night at 7 pm.
