I’m really pleased, thankful, excited, pumped, etc. over the way that the church turned out today for worship and fellowship around the Word. On a night when many pastors are “licking their wounds” over an empty church house, I’m thanking the Lord for what was a record attendance on a time change Sunday. The numbers are not all in as of yet, but it looks like we are going to be up about 20 or so over the same Sunday last year. That may not sound like much to many, but in a year where we’ve had many people have to transfer for jobs or other reasons (not to mention the inevitable attrition of less committed folks) that is a very encouraging number. Thank you for your faithfulness and excitement today.
I want to thank Pastor Mike Avants for a great DNow weekend. His leadership, planning and ministry was evident all over the place this weekend. The worship was great. The message from Matt Hubbard tonight was dead on, even for somebody from Arkansas. (As a matter of fact, out of deference for his wonderful job with the Word, I’ll forgo my standard Arkansas jokes.) And most of all, the responses from our students and leaders alike show the heart that Mike has for Student Ministry. Way to go, Mike.
Finally, my heart is not only full over the Lord’s blessings, but it is also burdened over some of our folks who will face very serious surgeries this week, and others who are really struggling with the cares and concerns of this life. I pray that God will be the God of comfort to them this week. I ask Him to speak peace to their troubled spirits, and I trust my members to the Good Shepherd for even though I love them, He loves them even more.
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to lead and share this life with you. I love you all. Have a great night and a check back the first of the week as there are going to be some major changes to this site, especially in the media section. Hope you like it.
